AI Usage
As of today February 11, 2026, here is how I use generative AI/LLM tools.
I use Maple AI and Pay-Per-Q to enhance my privacy while using LLMs. They offer a variety of LLMs and I can spread out my conversations to different LLMs, not centralizing all my data at one provider.
I never use AI to write as me. Not in emails, or other personal conversations.
I never use AI to generate article ideas.
I write the first drafts myself and when I am done I use AI to polish my texts, search for typos and question it for strengths and weaknesses. I use it to edit my writings as a German native speaker as my English profits from improvement, so I let AI suggest better phrasing and chose the result that fits best to my own writing style and taste.
Often AI suggests to change the structure of the piece. Make it longer, shorter, change the order. I let it suggest changes while sticking to my original and not inventing anything. I let it add or change sentences that make the piece stronger.
I never use it to write opinion pieces for me, I use it to edit them and check for errors and logical fallacies.
I use it for software installations. Recently I installed Linux Mint on an old laptop and I was able to manage this only with the help of Claude.
I use AI to edit my Markdown files and change it to HTML and vice versa.
I use it for medical research, to understand what my physician does, find possible alternatives and ask deeper questions.
I use it to do transcripts of video and audio interviews.
I use it for text and video summaries, descriptions and title suggestions.
I have never used AI to speak in my voice in podcasts. I have not decided on this yet, but since AI is in our phones, computers and soon everywhere it might be moot to not use it.
The real point of this page is to let you know that nothing claiming to be written by me is written by an AI, I use AI to support my work.
If this changes in the future, I'll update this page at this URL

I found this page on Derek Sivers, here. (Check out his blog. He’s great.)
